In architectural applications of coatings one of the most important matters is the resistance of the coatings to the degradation generated by the weathering agents and especially by the water. In the outdoor resistance are largely used polyester resins as main component of powder paints; in this work, trough laboratory accelerated tests, the behavior of this kind of coatings when subjected at weather was studied, focusing on the investigation of hydrolysis mechanism of water and relating it to chemical characteristics of polymers. Different polyester resins were synthetized and characterized, powder paints were formulated and tested. To ensure that the coatings could be used in outdoor applications, using official methods their conformity with international standard requirements was verified.

Abstract
In architectural applications of coatings one of the most important matters is the resistance of the coatings to the degradation generated by the weathering agents and especially by the water. In the outdoor resistance are largely used polyester resins as main component of powder paints; in this work, trough laboratory accelerated tests, the behavior of this kind of coatings when subjected at weather was studied, focusing on the investigation of hydrolysis mechanism of water and relating it to chemical characteristics of polymers. Different polyester resins were synthetized and characterized, powder paints were formulated and tested. To ensure that the coatings could be used in outdoor applications, using official methods their conformity with international standard requirements was verified.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
