“Fare i mostri”. Un’analisi delle caratteristiche fondamentali delle figure mostruose dell’Odissea.

The thesis aims to analyse, starting from the text itself, the fundamental characteristics of the monstrous figures in Homer's Odissey. In the analysis, some characteristics will be identified as of primary importance in the definition of each monster. The identified traits will be compared with those expressed by the same monstrous figures when the latter will reappear in other greek, and partially also latin, literary works chronologically pertaining to the archaic-classic, hellenistic and late-hellenistic periods. The analysis of the fundamental characteristics of each monster will show the presence of "thematic couples" in which some of the criteria may reappear, even though presenting, at the same time, some variations of expression.

Il lavoro si prefigge lo scopo di analizzare, partendo dagli elementi testuali, le caratteristiche fondamentali delle figure mostruose presenti nell’Odissea di Omero. In tale analisi saranno individuate delle caratteristiche ritenute di primaria importanza nella definizione di ciascun mostro. I tratti individuati saranno messi a confronto con quelli espressi dalle medesime figure mostruose quando queste si ripresentano in altre opere della letteratura greca, e tangenzialmente anche latina, di epoca arcaico-classica, ellenistica e tardo-ellenistica. L’analisi delle caratteristiche fondamentali di ciascun mostro metterà in evidenza la presenza di “coppie tematiche” nelle quali alcuni dei criteri potranno ripetersi presentando però, al contempo, alcune variazioni d’espressione.
