Youth mobility programs allow young people to spend time abroad under institutional agreements, offering opportunities for travel, language learning and, in some cases, employment. Work activities enable more direct contact with the host country, shaping the experience as an intermediate form between tourism and working abroad. The literature review will examine the definitions that link tourism and work activities, identifying the backpacker travel style as the most appropriate theoretical framework for work-holiday tourism. The analysis will then focus on Australia, which for historical and economic reasons has invested in this form of mobility to attract young visitors. The Working Holiday Visa program will be presented by reconstructing its evolution and illustrating the most recent data on arrivals. To outline the profile of Working Holiday Makers, the study will examine access requirements, participant motivations, main internal destinations and the most common employment sectors. Working conditions, expenses and young people’s consumption patterns will also be analysed, highlighting the role of this labour force for industries such as tourism and agriculture, which rely on the territorial mobility of workers. Finally, a qualitative analysis based on direct testimonies will provide an additional perspective on participants’ perceptions and level of satisfaction.

Abstract
Finally, a qualitative analysis based on direct testimonies will provide an additional perspective on participants’ perceptions and level of satisfaction.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
