The main purpose of this thesis is to propose a digital museum in the context of Museum of Palazzo Mocenigo, Study Centre of the History of Textiles, Costumes and Perfume’s collections. The study is focused the on Tessilteca Moderna, which is conserved on the museum’s storage floor. In the first chapter the current state of digital museums in relation to art and artworks will be analysed: the doctrine in support of the creation of digital museums and the technological tools employed. Finally, examples of museums adopting digital solutions, with a particular focus on the textile museums, will be provided. In the research the specific condition of Palazzo Mocenigo as a museum integrated within Venice’s context will be examined. The city of Venice is well-known for its unique characteristics, especially as far as the cultural and artistic fields are concerned. A indeep analysis of the Museum of Palazzo Mocenigo among Venice museums and, more specifically, within the Musei Civici network, is essential to understanding the Tessilteca Moderna needs and potentialities. On the basis of this analysis, in the final chapter the project of a digital museum will be presented. The proposal for Palazzo Mocenigo Museum will consist of an introduction with reasons and purposes the project, a showcase of some Tessilteca Moderna selected pieces, as well as a description of the technologies involved and a suggested economic strategy to be adopted in order to realise the digital museum and to promote the collection. These aspects will be supported by a visual rendering of the project proposal. This work will also show the possible implementations of the project, looking at future improvement of audience involvement in the Museum of Palazzo Mocenigo.
