EVs and ICE vehicles: An analysis of the second-hand car market across EU countries

This thesis aims to analyze the depreciation patterns of second-hand cars, with a focus on fuel types, specifically electric vehicles (EVs) and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. Particular attention is given to country-specific policies that either promote EV adoption or discourage the use of ICE vehicles. To measure the effect of the technical characteristics of the used vehicles, hedonic pricing models are used to estimate depreciation curves. The second part of this thesis focus on the external indicators that can affect the depreciation of the used vehicles over time. In particular, a panel data analysis will be performed, by including GDP per capita, passenger vehicles per inhabitant and taxation attributes.
