Enhancing Financial Reporting with Power BI tools: A Case Study Approach

This thesis explores the use of Power BI tools -software best in class among Reporting and BI software to enhance financial reporting processes within organizations. Financial reporting is a critical aspect of decision-making, but traditional reporting methods frequently suffer from limitations such as time consumption, complexity, and difficulty in deriving actionable insights. To address these gaps, it examines innovations that are further applied with Microsoft Power BI in a case study, showcasing its capabilities in data integration, transformation, and visualization. The findings highlight how Power BI enhances financial decision-making by offering dynamic, interactive dashboards, automated data processing, and improved forecasting accuracy. However, challenges such as implementation costs, data governance, and the need for technical expertise are also discussed. Ultimately, this thesis underscores the importance of leveraging business intelligence tools like Power BI to transition from static financial reporting to an agile, data-driven financial management system. By adopting these innovative methodologies, organizations can improve transparency, efficiency, and strategic foresight, thereby gaining a competitive edge in the modern business landscape.
