In my paper, I will analyse the various forms of advertising, performing a historical excursus from the beginnings until now. Next, I will examine the history of advertising in China, and how it has evolved, including some examples. In the second chapter, I will perform a literary review of the nature of the genre, bringing to light its connections to culture-specific expectations and ideologies. Next, I will discuss the role of women in magazines, advertisements, and television news, elaborating on some particularly interesting examples . In the third chapter, I will address the issue of sexuality in China and in particular the LGBTQ+ community and the role it plays within society. Finally, in the last chapter I will discuss the representation of this community within magazines, advertisements and television news, elaborating on some particularly interesting example.
