Abstract
How is it possible to achieve the goal of a sustainable world if the earth is under continuous environmental devastation caused by conflicts? The international community is working hard on environmental sustainability, but there is no denying that the never-ending here and there presence of war representing a serious problem for the environment. The aim of my thesis is trying to understand the link between conflict, environment and the relevance of addressing environmental management in a post-conflict scenario. The introduction of this thesis is a theoretical framework concerning when, where and how the relationship among these has became relevant for the international institutions. Following, I performed an historical analysis of different international governmental and non-governmental organisations involved in this matter and the difference before and after the internalization of this issue. As a proof of concept here I present Lebanon’s case study, specifically on the assessment and recovery operations implemented and a questionnaire about the perceptions of aid effectiveness concerning environmental assessment and recovery in Lebanon following the 2006 Lebanon War- 2007 Nahr el Bared Crisis.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
