This master thesis presents a qualitative study aimed at exploring the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in addressing the challenges encountered by internal stakeholders when utilizing corporate digital ideation systems. A comprehensive literature review is conducted to establish a foundational understanding of these systems, their implementation rationale, and the recurring challenges faced by stakeholders throughout the ideation process, forming the basis for a conceptual framework. Furthermore, the study defines the concept of AI, along with a broad description of its role, applications, gains, and implications in corporate innovation activities and idea management programs specifically. A qualitative research approach, by means of semi-structured expert-based interviews has been employed, involving researchers on AI and IMS (Idea Management Systems), innovation consultants, and managers operating in the field, in order to gain primary data. Overall, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of how AI-based idea management systems can empower corporate innovation by addressing stakeholder challenges. The results highlight the potential of AI to assist in overcoming these challenges while accentuating the constant importance of human involvement in the innovation process. These insights provide a broader perspective on the integration of AI in corporate innovation efforts and give guidelines for future attempts in leveraging technology to enhance idea management systems.
