This thesis analyses the consequences of the recognition of Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly and other international organisations such as UNESCO, considering in particular the possible involvement of the International Criminal Court (ICC). In the first place, an historical review is outlined to better define the role of the UN in the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. The vote at the General Assembly in late 2012 is analysed in detail, as well as its most recent repercussions. A specific section deals with the request of inclusion of Palestine within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, lodged in early 2009.This inclusion constitutes one of the most delicate issues debated among international law scholars, whose opinions are carefully reviewed. Finally, in light of international recognition but also of a reality of occupation by Israel, the thesis tries to assess which paths are available for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

Abstract
Finally, in light of international recognition but also of a reality of occupation by Israel, the thesis tries to assess which paths are available for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
