A pitch deck is the main document through which a startup presents its business to potential investors. However, evaluating pitch decks is often a subjective and time-consuming process that requires significant effort from analysts. This study investigates the extent to which agentic artificial intelligence can support this process. Two AI agents were developed for this purpose. The first assesses pitch deck quality according to the VeniSIA framework and attempts to predict the startup’s future outcome. The second identifies the business model based on a closed taxonomy of 80 patterns. Both agents were tested on a sample of 150 historical pitch decks, and their outputs were compared with an independent manual assessment of the same documents. The results show a high degree of consistency in both pitch deck quality assessment and business model pattern identification. However, the agents showed limited ability to predict startups’ future performance. An especially valuable finding concerns the questions generated for founders, which in most cases highlighted issues that proved to be relevant. Overall, agentic AI appears to be a useful tool for supporting the analytical process, helping enhance and complement the analyst’s work while leaving the final judgment to human expertise.

Abstract
Overall, agentic AI appears to be a useful tool for supporting the analytical process, helping enhance and complement the analyst’s work while leaving the final judgment to human expertise.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
