This thesis aims to analyse the relationship between fashion and cinema within the contemporary media landscape, focusing on the transformations in modes of spectatorship brought about by the increasing hybridisation of these two fields. Considered not merely as cultural industries, but as media systems capable of constructing narratives, imaginaries, and sensory experiences, fashion and cinema are examined through the different configurations they assume in the contemporary context. Particular attention is devoted to the question of the gaze and to the dispositifs through which images are presented and experienced. The research adopts media archaeology as its primary methodological framework, understood as a non-linear approach to media history capable of establishing connections between forms, dispositifs, and visual practices belonging to different temporalities. The aim is to investigate the new configurations of the gaze that emerge from the continuous hybridisation of fashion and cinema, in order to assess the extent to which seemingly new modes of perception reactivate earlier media and visual logics. Through the analysis of four contemporary case studies, the thesis examines different modes of engagement and different configurations of spectatorship. Ultimately, this research seeks to demonstrate that the convergence between fashion and cinema extends beyond the mere contamination of their respective languages, affecting the contemporary media landscape at a deeper level, as well as the ways in which contemporary individuals experience images.

Abstract
Ultimately, this research seeks to demonstrate that the convergence between fashion and cinema extends beyond the mere contamination of their respective languages, affecting the contemporary media landscape at a deeper level, as well as the ways in which contemporary individuals experience images.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
