In this Master's Thesis, different topics concerning the plastics sector are dealt with. A new, more sustainable synthetic route will be proposed for the synthesis of organophosphorus additives as flame retardants in polymeric matrices. The synthesis, study and use of organophosphorous markers, by extrusion, with different types of polymers will then be discussed. Finally, the functionalisation by reactive extrusion of polymeric materials for their use as bio-luminescent-indicators of environmental contamination by micro and nanoplastics will be examined
