The integration of Artificial Intelligence and Design Thinking is the subject of a rapidly growing debate, in which the literature has focused mainly on the applications and operational benefits of AI, devoting less attention to its effects on the founding principles of the method, and in particular on human-centeredness. This research addresses this gap through a systematic literature review, guided by the research question concerning the conditions under which AI can support new product innovation without compromising the centrality of the user. The analysis maps the applications of AI across the phases of the Design Thinking process and interprets its functions through the replace, reinforce and reveal taxonomy, assessing their effects on four dimensions of human-centeredness. The findings show that AI does not hold a univocal role, but that its effect is ambivalent and depends on the conditions of its use rather than on its technical features. The study identifies the conditions for an integration consistent with the method, including the preservation of human interpretive control, the designer's expertise and the anchoring to the real user, and organizes them into a conceptual framework. The research concludes that AI represents an enhancement of Design Thinking provided that the human being remains its interpretive and decision-making center.

Abstract
The research concludes that AI represents an enhancement of Design Thinking provided that the human being remains its interpretive and decision-making center.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
