This thesis takes as its starting point an image of the contemporary city not as a harmonious organism but, as argued by Gabriele Pasqui in La città, i saperi, le pratiche, as a space traversed by cultural differences, social tensions, historical stratifications, and both formal and informal economies. The city thus emerges as a space of irreducible plurality. Through a critical lens, this study investigates the potential of community-based artistic practices to serve as tools for knowledge and understanding of the plural reality of urban space, and whether they can foster coexistence among diverse needs. More specifically, the practices examined are those that involve walking as a process of reappropriation, design, and production of space. How can participatory walking be interpreted as a practice of producing urban space in contexts marked by inequality and conflict? Starting from an artistic genealogy of walking as a tool for contestation and the reclaiming of space, this thesis goes on to compare contemporary multidisciplinary experiences that employ urban walking in a cross-disciplinary way, in order to reflect on urban space as a complex, multifaceted, and heterogeneous environment

Abstract
Starting from an artistic genealogy of walking as a tool for contestation and the reclaiming of space, this thesis goes on to compare contemporary multidisciplinary experiences that employ urban walking in a cross-disciplinary way, in order to reflect on urban space as a complex, multifaceted, and heterogeneous environment| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
