Ethnomedicinal studies carried out in Iran from 2005 to 2023: A systematic review of ethnobotanical research.

This thesis reviews the traditional use of medicinal plants in different regions of Iran by local communities and traditional medicine experts. The main aim of the study is to document how medicinal plants are used for the treatment of various diseases and to contribute to the preservation of traditional knowledge and biodiversity. The study is based on a comprehensive review of published ethnobotanical research conducted in Iran. These studies include fieldwork, questionnaire-based surveys, and interviews with local inhabitants and knowledgeable practitioners. The collected information is analyzed to identify commonly used medicinal plant species and their traditional applications. As this research is a literature-based review, no experimental or laboratory work is included. The thesis focuses on synthesizing existing studies to provide an overview of the diversity and cultural importance of medicinal plants in Iran. Also the research is situated within the field of ethnobotany and highlights the significance of traditional medicinal knowledge in everyday life.
