This research aims to reconstruct the practices, skills and professions that today converge in the role of registrar, showing how this figure emerged fully in the XIX century but has its roots in millennial practices of management, documentation and protection of goods. From Greek and Roman civilisations, where functionaries such as “tamiai” and “curatores operum publicorum” administered religious and civic properties, through the Middle Ages, to the Modern Age. Starting with the first papal reforms of the XV century and continuing through to more advanced policies for the conservation of historical and artistic heritage, the study will examine figures in Rome in the first half of the XIX century who could be considered precursors of the registrar. In conclusion, it will be analysed the contemporary context, the training and responsibilities of these professionals in today's job market, comparing the Italian situation with some international cases.

Abstract
In conclusion, it will be analysed the contemporary context, the training and responsibilities of these professionals in today's job market, comparing the Italian situation with some international cases.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
