Survival Research Laboratories - Una parodia intersemiotica del transumanismo

This thesis investigates the relationship between the 1980s works by Survival Research Laboratories and transhumanist philosophy. The study aims to establish a connection between transhumanist ideas and SRL's shows through an intertextual framework focused on parody. Affinities and references have been highlighted through semiotic analysis of the textual strategies and historical contextualization, in order to verify any correlation . The growing prominence of transhumanism, the thematic references, and the influence that SRL's works have had on cyberpunk reveal an affinity between the objects of study. Further investigation is needed into the relationship between early transhumanism and the artistic sphere, in order to clarify the connections between the movement and robotic art.

La tesi indaga il rapporto tra le opere degli anni Ottanta dei Survival Research Laboratories e la filosofia transumanista. Lo scopo dello studio è quello di stabilire, attraverso gli studi sull'intertestualità e in particolare sulla parodia, una relazione tra le idee transumaniste e gli spettacoli dei SRL. Attraverso l'analisi semiotica delle strategie testuali attuate e la contestualizzazione storica sono stati sottolineati affinità e rimandi per verificare il nesso. La crescente notorietà del transumanismo, i richiami tematici e l'influenza che le opere dei SRL hanno avuto sul cyberpunk rivelano un'affinità tra gli oggetti di ricerca. Risulta come sia necessario indagare maggiormente il rapporto tra il primo transumanismo e l'ambito artistico, chiarendo i rapporti tra questa corrente e l'arte robotica sviluppatasi in seguito.
