This thesis sets out to design a strategic plan for Psalm, an early-stage startup company in the vaping industry, with the objective of understanding how startups in regulated and socially sensitive markets can move from technological innovation to a sustainable business model. The central focus is the broader strategic challenge of building a coherent path to market entry, growth, and long-term legitimacy. The work combines established frameworks in strategic management and entrepreneurship with sector-specific analyses of regulation, consumer behavior, toxicology, and sustainability. This integration allows the thesis to approach Psalm not merely as a business case but as an example of how theoretical models can be operationalized in practice. Market size, growth trends, consumer demand drivers, and competitor dynamics are examined in depth, and these findings are then used to define positioning choices, governance structures, and financial scenarios that can support the company’s development. A recurring theme is the tension between risk and opportunity. The vaping market is shaped by regulatory uncertainty, reputational fragility, and shifting cultural attitudes toward wellness and sustainability. Rather than treating these as external threats, the thesis shows how a carefully designed strategy can turn them into drivers of differentiation and trust. Attention is also given to governance and transparency, as these factors are shown to be decisive in avoiding the missteps that have undermined competitors in the past. In conclusion, the work demonstrates how the elaboration of a strategic plan can transform an innovative idea into a structured, credible, and investor-ready business proposition. The case of Psalm thus serves as both a practical roadmap for the company and a contribution to the academic discussion on strategy design for startups operating in contested markets.

Abstract
The case of Psalm thus serves as both a practical roadmap for the company and a contribution to the academic discussion on strategy design for startups operating in contested markets.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
