This thesis examines the extent to which French policies have impacted immigrant integration between 2014 and 2024. The research aims to analyze the policies implemented by the French state during this ten-year period and their outcomes in terms of immigrant integration. Furthermore, it seeks to evaluate the continued relevance of these policies and their potential as a foundation for future actions. The interest in this topic was sparked by the necessity to understand how migrations’ flows have changed during the years - mainly in recent times-, and how these impacts on the intersectionality that migration has with integration and politics among other variables. The historical context of French migration, significantly shaped by its colonial past, has created a diverse society, and despite numerous laws enacted since 1945 addressing immigration, a satisfactory resolution remains elusive. The period from the 2010s into the 2020s, marked by increasing immigration levels, has presented significant challenges to integration and peaceful coexistence, further influenced by the rise of far-right political movements. The present thesis would thus like to investigate the concepts of integration and national identity, also in order to understand the reasoning behind the choices made by the different actors part of the decision-making processes, and how the various factors influence each other when it comes to the perception the dominant society type has of immigrants. Thus, this thesis aims at providing a comprehensive overview of how legal initiatives and policies of the French state in this field have evolved across multiple levels of governance over the most recent years and to what extent they have facilitated (or hindered) the economic, socio-cultural and civic and political integration of migrants with different cultural and social backgrounds into French society.

Abstract
Thus, this thesis aims at providing a comprehensive overview of how legal initiatives and policies of the French state in this field have evolved across multiple levels of governance over the most recent years and to what extent they have facilitated (or hindered) the economic, socio-cultural and civic and political integration of migrants with different cultural and social backgrounds into French society.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
