Sustainability, in the sense of integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) dimensions, has become a key issue in many areas, including culture. Despite international recognition of culture as the “fourth pillar” of sustainable development, museums continue to face methodological and operational challenges in measuring and communicating their performance. This thesis proposes a multidimensional approach that integrates dictionary-based analysis of non-financial reports, the DSR model for assessing sustainability practices and strategies, and the AHP methodology for determining the weights associated with the three ESG pillars. The integration of these tools allows for the creation of an ESG score that can be used to measure the ESG performance of museums and identify strengths and weaknesses. The proposed approach was applied to a group of museums in Northern Italy. The results of the analysis show that some museums excel in communicating their initiatives, while others demonstrate positive operational solidity despite limited disclosure. The research therefore contributes to the discussion on museum sustainability, demonstrating how a multidimensional assessment of ESG performance can strengthen accountability, improve funding opportunities, and consolidate the role of museums as socially responsible actors.

Abstract
The research therefore contributes to the discussion on museum sustainability, demonstrating how a multidimensional assessment of ESG performance can strengthen accountability, improve funding opportunities, and consolidate the role of museums as socially responsible actors.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
