This thesis deals with the impact of climate news on a financial index of the euro zone (Eurostoxx 50). This study consists of detecting the environmental vocabulary of the Financial Times' articles, based on glossaries developed in the first instance. This identification of environmental vocabulary in articles is done through the creation of scores, describing the media coverage of environmental topics. Subsequently, these scores are integrated into an econometric regression of the 5 Factors Fama French model in order to study the impact of climate news on the return of stocks in the stock market index (dependent variable).
Questa tesi analizza l'impatto delle notizie sul clima su un indice finanziario della zona euro (Eurostoxx 50). Lo studio consiste nel rilevare il vocabolario ambientale negli articoli del Financial Times, sulla base di glossari compilati in prima istanza. L'identificazione del vocabolario ambientale negli articoli viene effettuata creando punteggi che descrivono la copertura mediatica degli argomenti ambientali. Questi punteggi vengono poi integrati in una regressione econometrica del modello di Fama French a 5 fattori per studiare l'impatto delle notizie sul clima sui rendimenti degli indici di borsa (variabile dipendente).
