This thesis addresses the complex process of translating and conducting a translation analysis of El manuscrito de nieve by Luis García Jambrina, a historical detective novel set in 15th-century Salamanca. The work seeks to explore not only the linguistic and stylistic aspects of the translation but also the rich historical and cultural context in which the novel is situated. The first chapter introduces the novel and its author, delving into the historical and social context of late medieval Salamanca. The novel is also analyzed within the framework of the historical and detective genres, drawing parallels with works such as The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco. An additional section of the chapter examines references to classic Spanish texts like La Celestina and Lazarillo de Tormes, which enhance the intertextual fabric of the novel. The second chapter presents a translated selection of significant passages, aiming to faithfully convey the tone, linguistic complexity, and historical setting of the novel. Special attention is given to the adaptation of historical lexicon and idiomatic expressions. The third and final chapter is dedicated to translation analysis. It discusses in detail the decisions made during the translation process, with theoretical references spanning from literary to cultural translation.
