This thesis aims at exploring the phenomenon of K-Pop as a tool of soft power and the role of South Korea's cultural policies in its global expansion. Starting from an analysis of the historical, political, and cultural context in which K-Pop was born and evolved, while examining the dynamics between tradition and musical innovation, this study will explore how the South Korean government has adopted cultural policies and strategies to promote this segment of its music industry.The study will analyze both the positive and negative economic, social, and cultural impact that the phenomenon has had on the country, as well as how K-Pop has been used as a tool of soft power. The research addresses the duality of the phenomenon, highlighting both its advantages and its critical aspects. The thesis concludes with a critical reflection on the future of K-Pop, examining potential developments and future challenges while considering the delicate balance between economic growth, social responsibility, and artistic authenticity.
La tesi mira ad esplorare il fenomeno del K-Pop come strumento di soft power e il ruolo delle politiche culturali della Corea del Sud nella sua espansione globale. Partendo da un'analisi del contesto storico, politico e culturale in cui è nato e si è evoluto il K-Pop, osservando le dinamiche instaurate tra tradizione e innovazione musicale, lo studio esaminerà come il governo coreano abbia adottato politiche e strategie culturali per promuovere questo segmento della propria industria musicale. Si analizzerà sia l'impatto, positivo e negativo, a livello economico, sociale e culturale che il fenomeno ha avuto sul paese sia come il K-pop venga utilizzato come strumento di soft power. La ricerca affronta la dualità del fenomeno, evidenziandone sia i lati positivi che quelli negativi. La tesi si conclude con una riflessione critica sul futuro del K-Pop, osservando i possibili sviluppi e le sfide future, considerando il delicato equilibrio tra crescita economica, responsabilità sociale e autenticità artistica.
