From Food Systems to Entrepreneurship: Analyzing Startup Creation and Ecosystem in the Food Sector

The thesis initially addresses the definition of Food Systems and the role they play in society today, highlighting the challenges they have to face. Subsequently, the focus shifts to the entrepreneurial process and the startup ecosystem, with a comparative analysis of three entities operating in the food sector. For each phase of the startup life cycle, the inputs, relationships, critical issues and sustainability aspects that distinguish them are examined. The main objective of the thesis is to understand how new entrepreneurial entities can contribute to achieving the objectives set by the 2030 Agenda for food systems, while also delving into the difficulties that the sector itself must face.

La tesi affronta inizialmente la definizione di food Systems e il ruolo che rivestono oggi nella società, evidenziando le sfide che devono affrontare. Successivamente, il focus si sposta sul processo imprenditoriale e sull’ecosistema delle startup, con un’analisi comparativa di tre realtà che operano nel settore alimentare. Per ciascuna fase del ciclo di vita delle startup, vengono esaminati gli input, le relazioni, le criticità e gli aspetti di sostenibilità che le contraddistinguono. L'obiettivo principale della tesi è comprendere come le nuove realtà imprenditoriali possano contribuire al raggiungimento degli obiettivi fissati dall'Agenda 2030 per i sistemi alimentari, approfondendo però anche le difficoltà che il settore stesso deve affrontare.
