'From Subsistence to Industrial Fishing and Back: the historical development and decline of fishing in the Gulf of Trieste'

The present work aims to summarize the historical evolution of the various fishing techniques that developed over the centuries in the Gulf of Trieste, from the Austro-Hungarian administration to the present day. Currently, the fishing industry is experiencing a serious systemic crisis due to socio-economic, political, and ecological factors. This research will analyze these elements in order to provide a comprehensive picture of the current situation. The ongoing crisis may result from both long-term and short term dynamics that have affected the entire marine space.
