This thesis examines the import and export regulations for electric vehicles (EVs) between the European Union (EU) and China, with a focus on the regulatory frameworks governing imports into the EU and exports from China. The objective is to analyze how these two global powers manage EV trade, the regulatory requirements they must meet, and the standards they enforce. The study relies on information from official EU institutional sources, such as the European Commission and the European Council, as well as authoritative sources from the People's Republic of China. The thesis is structured into four chapters: the first provides a global overview of the EV market, exploring its origins, classifications, and distribution across major international markets; the second focuses on the EU, examining the structure of its EV market and the import regulations governing the entry of electric vehicles into member states; the third analyzes the Chinese EV market, detailing its development and the export regulations facilitating international EV trade; the fourth presents a comparative analysis of the regulatory frameworks in the EU and China, highlighting key similarities, differences, and their implications for global trade.
