Desafíos y estrategias en la traducción audiovisual: El caso del subtitulado del primer episodio de Mare Fuori del italiano al español

This thesis examines the main challenges and strategies in audiovisual translation (AVT), combining a theoretical and practical approach. From a general perspective to a specific case study, the research focuses on the subtitling of the first episode of the Italian series Mare Fuori, with particular attention to two modalities: subtitling for hearing audiences and for the deaf and hard of hearing. The study is structured into four chapters. The first presents a theoretical framework on AVT, outlining its main characteristics and the challenges of translating between two closely related languages, Italian and Spanish. The second chapter explores the cultural and linguistic context of the series, highlighting the influence of the Neapolitan dialect on the subtitles available on Rai Play and Netflix Italia. The third chapter provides a comparative analysis of the subtitles offered by both streaming platforms, assessing their compliance with regulations and identifying errors. Finally, the fourth chapter proposes two translation versions from Italian to Spanish, accompanied by a translation commentary justifying the decisions made. This study aims to highlight the role of the audiovisual translator as a cultural mediator and to emphasize the importance of high-quality translation in ensuring accessibility and the effective dissemination of audiovisual content.

Este Trabajo de Fin de Máster (TFM) examina los principales desafíos y estrategias en la disciplina conocida como traducción audiovisual (TAV), combinando un enfoque teórico y práctico. El estudio analiza el subtitulado del primer episodio de la serie napolitana Mare Fuori, con especial atención a dos modalidades: la subtitulación para oyentes y la subtitulación para personas sordas y con discapacidad auditiva. La investigación se estructura en cuatro capítulos. En primer lugar, se presenta un marco teórico general sobre la TAV, sus características principales y sus retos específicos en la traducción en el marco de la pareja de lenguas afines italiano y español. A continuación, se examina el contexto cultural y lingüístico de la serie, con énfasis en la influencia del dialecto napolitano en los subtítulos disponibles en las plataformas de streaming Rai Play y Netflix Italia. El tercer capítulo ofrece un análisis comparativo de los subtítulos emitidos por ambas plataformas, evaluando su adecuación a las normativas y señalando errores detectados. Finalmente, el cuarto capítulo propone dos versiones de traducción del italiano al español, acompañadas de un comentario traductológico que justifica las decisiones adoptadas. Este TFM busca poner en valor el papel del traductor audiovisual como mediador cultural y resaltar la importancia de una traducción de calidad en la accesibilidad y difusión de los productos audiovisuales.
