This thesis explores the intersection of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and sustainability, focusing on how technological innovation can drive sustainable development across environmental, social, and economic dimensions. Motivated by the increasing urgency of climate change and social inequalities, as well as the author's professional experience in sustainability, the study investigates whether ICT frameworks can foster synergies to address pressing global challenges. The work is divided into four chapters. The first chapter defines ICT and examines its applications in business, emphasizing its role in enhancing efficiency and decision-making. It also reviews the evolving concept of sustainability, incorporating the Triple Bottom Line framework. The second chapter delves into the synergies between ICT and sustainability, presenting how ICT can enable green supply chain management, resource traceability, and social inclusion through education and online communities. The third chapter focuses on blockchain technology, analyzing its potential to support sustainable practices in supply chains and manufacturing. Finally, the fourth chapter provides case studies from industries such as agri-food, fashion, and automotive, demonstrating real-world applications of ICT in sustainable initiatives. By highlighting the interdependencies between ICT and sustainability, this research underscores the importance of integrating technological advancements with strategic environmental and social goals to ensure a sustainable future.
