Sustainability in Formula One: Governance, Regulation, Opportunities and Challenges

The theme of the research is the sustainability agenda and engagement of the motorsport sector, specifically the main focus is on Formula One, the “pinnacle of motorsport”. The choice is led by the magnitude of the Championship and the relationship with multiple countries, considering the impact on the communities and the environment at a global level. The analysis comprehends the regulation framework and the governance of the Federation that oversees Formula One, the Formula One Group and the Promoters (the Circuits). It follows a critical analysis of the practices and the reporting systems of these bodies, focusing on the issues of the sector, the possibility of greenwashing and the global ESG challenges.
