This thesis focuses on the rights and protection for migrant women employed in the domestic sector, with particular attention to the initiatives undertaken at the EU level to safeguard and support this category of workers. This project will provide a theoretical overview of domestic work in relation to labour migration, with a particular focus on women migrant workers. It will then concentrate on the main international initiatives that address domestic workers, such as the ILO Convention No. 189. Subsequently, it will focus on the analysis of the normative instruments, institutional interventions, and initiatives undertaken by trade unions to protect women migrant domestic workers and to support their organisation within the EU. The objective is therefore to assess whether these initiatives, where applicable, have been correctly implemented and whether they actually had positive effects for domestic workers.
