The neoliberal development model represents a specific idea of progress, which profoundly forges the contemporary world. The object of this research is to elaborate an unusual analysis of neoliberism, by comparing the studies of the neo-skeptical authors, namely those who criticize neoliberism: P. Dardot and C. Laval, S. Halimi and D. Harvey. The first part of the research is focused on the history of neoliberal theory, its origin and its global diffusion. Furthermore, in the second section, the founding elements of the neoliberal pattern are analyzed, namely the evolution of the market, the transformed role of the State and the modalities in which societies and peoples are affected. Finally, it is investigated the relationship between neoliberism and democracy, in order to clarify whether the former facilitates the latter or if a growing contradiction can be rather observed.
