Micro and macro data consistently show that there is a substantial gender gap in labor force participation in Paraguay. Studying the gender wage gap allows assessing whether, everything else constant, women receive lower wages than men. This wage differential can be one of the channels used to rationalize why women are more likely to stay out of the labor market compared to men. This thesis aims to analyze the gender pay gap across the wage distribution in Paraguay for the period 2009-2015. OLS and quantile regressions are estimated on a sample drawn from the Household Survey, which is run by the National Statistics Office and based on a representative sample of the Paraguayan population.
