The effect of oil prices on water and steam injections for secondary recovery

I analyze US well-level data from oil production wells and liquid injection wells for secondary recovery purposes to show how they respond to price changes. I focus particularly on production from and stimulation of already existing wells. I find a positive and significant effect of oil prices on water injections to stimulate production of conventional light oil, while no similar effect is found for heavy, extra-heavy, shale and tight oil.
