Amid changing pension structures and increased financial responsibility, financial literacy has emerged as an integral factor impacting not only individuals but also societies globally. As women, on average, tend to outlive men, experience interrupted careers, and earn less over their lifetime, the significance of financial literacy is particularly pronounced for them. This thesis aims to explore the gender gap in student financial literacy, with a focus on Italy and Germany. Thus, this study utilises a mixed methods approach to measure the current level of financial literacy of the sample population, also analysing the challenges and barriers students encounter in enhancing their financial literacy, and investigating the influence of gender on financial literacy levels. Finally, the study explores how financial education programmes can effectively enhance financial literacy, especially among women.
