AI Revolution is leading to a University System Revolution

In November 2022, OpenAI launched ChatGPT, a language model chat-bot whose power stands in its reinforcement learning technology. Early users affirm we’re entering a Revolution thanks to its ability to understand inputs and provide non-pre-imposted outputs. AI Revolution is spreading in many fields, and the one we take into consideration in this dissertation is the University System. We’ve identified three words that can be considered as the milestone of the Modern Era and are the main characters of today society: technology, innovation and hyper-connectivity. We contextualize the words both for the University System and for the Artificial Intelligence field. Specifically, chapter 1 focuses on University System, what constitutes it and its main characteristics; and chapter 2 focuses on AI, its main aspects and the revolutionary power in it. The dissertation approach adopted is a scientific and economic one, using a theoretical method to present limits and opportunities of the analysis. The aim we pursue is to understand if we’re facing a breakthrough revolution that will change forever our way of learning, with a specific focus on the Italian system. We conclude the thesis with an AI-made story that projects us in the 5-year time future. The last chapter offers an insightful and thought-provoking analysis of AI both examining the present and considering the future. What does the future hold for us?
